My weebly Blog

This is my link: nadiamurphy.weebly.com

Our assignment was to create a professional portfolio using the weebly cite.
Some benefits of the online portfolio is that you can always go back and change it, you can have a link of your page and cite it on the job interview so that whoevee is looking at it has an idea about yourself.
I like that it gave us an idea of how the page work, so in that case if we really would like to use the cite, we can actually buy it to add more effects on our portfolio
I would continue to use this in the future if it were free, because that way i would not have any limits as to what, or how i want to decorate my portfolio.

april 13, 2010 Elluminate live

1) describe the experience with elluminate live. My experience was Great!! i got all connection hooked upo, exept my problem was getting the headset to work. other than that, elluminate live is an amazing site!
2) What did you like? Dislike?
I like how we can communicate from far away, and that whatever we draw on the screen, it is all there. There was no secret!!
i dislike how the communication was delay, or sometimes cut out.
3)how would a distance learning application like elluminate, benefit students? I think it would benefit students, not only by collaborating with eachother, but also they can actually paste up pictures of themselve or work to show out to the participants.
4)What are some ideas that you learned from Mrs. Bree?
I learned that it is worthed to get books on lesson plan even if it is expensive. she also gave great site on how to collaborate with other people from a far or some sites to use in a classroom.
5) What would you take with you to explore in more depth? Why?
I never heard of any of the sites except skype, so i would explore all site in more depth because it my be a value to use for class. some of the site are

March 16, 2010 timeline assignments

www.teach-nology.com
1) Describe your assignment? We had to create a lesson plan that will incude the timeline, and what my partner and i did, was we chose the subject social studies, and we created a lesson plan based on the presidents. For example we told about 6 history of the recent presidents, then we used the quizstar and rubistar to create are assessment.

2) What did you like about the timeline website?/ rubistar and quizstar.
I liked all three softwares, they were very easy to used, and not as complicate as i thought it would be. i am new to it, but it felt like i was already professional using the site. Great SITE!!!

3) How would you use these sites for a classroom assignment?
for the timeline, if it was first day of class, i would have the students do a timeline of themselves... For the rubi star, i really love this site, i would use this site for any of the students assignment. For example, presentation, essay, etc... and for the quizstar, i am so glad that this site exist, i do not have to keep pushing enter or adding bullets to my multiple choice or short answers, i just have to type a question and give a list of choice and then check mark the correct answer, then press submit, then it will do it all for you. It can also shuffle up the question, which is great as well.

4) How would you rate each software on a scale of 1-10
I would rate this scale a 10 because it did not give me any problem, and it also made my teaching career easier and better!

03/09/10 ROCKYOU.com

i couldn't input my codes so here is the link:

For this assignment, we worked in groups and had to advertise this site. We took pictures of us and we uploaded it into our account, which we already signed up for. We made a story slideshow on using this cite based on what to do when we lost our car keys.

Was the software user-friendly?
It was okay, the problem was the internet server, which gave us hard time to upload pictures.
Did the software have extra useful features to enhance your presentation (or just minimal)?
It had enough features to make a presentation. Although no extra features that I know.

Is the software specifically useful for teachers?
I do not think it’s useful for teachers.

Would you recommend the software for other educators?
I would not recoomend to other educators, unless they are interested in doing slideshows, then maybe I will recommend.

If you had a choice to use this software again for a presentation, would you use it?
No, it does not have the features that I want. Maybe if it was updated and had more features, then yes.

What overall consensus rating would you give for this software 1- 10 (10 being the highest).
I would rate this cite a 9, because it has all the features that needs to be use in a presentation. It may not have extra features, but it is good enough.

03/ 02/ 2010 "ZUNAL"

link: www.zunal.com/webquest.php?w=52752

1) describe your assignment. The assigment was pretty intense. i had no idea how it works, because when i explored other subject, they all had different information, so i was confuse. But then i stuck to one subject, which was music, and i followed a format that was already given. We had to create sort of like a lesson plan, but using the cite ZUNAL, this is to give the students oppurtunity to get on the computer and actually work electronically. The title of my lesson plan was Drumatize, the task was that the student will learn how to read drum notation. And this is grades 3rd to 5th. I listed down the process of what each student will be doing, and after they are done, i have conclusion, where the students can enjoy watching youtubes of children drumming, and see how fascinating it is to read and drum at the same time.

2) What did you like or dislike about the webquest project? and why? I like the webquest project because it gives the students an opportunity to go scavenger hunting online. And it also gives them a chance to get use to the computer. What i dislike about it is that it gives me hard time to input links to the cite, and sometimes the link does not open. That is the only downfall in my opinion.

3) What were some of the challenges you faced? Some of the challenges that i faced was looking for good and appropriate cite for the grade levels that i have chosen. Another is how exactly am i going to begin my lesson or introduction. and lastly, how can i make it fun and easy to understand, so that the lesson touches on the student MI.

4) If you had to do it over, what would you do differently? There is really nothing that i would change, although i would like to start a new lesson that would flow with the lesson i have just created.

5) how do you think your students will like using a webquest? why? It depends, some will like it if they know how to use the computer well, and some may not like it, if they have difficulty using the computer. Also It depends, if the activities are fun, then most likely the student will enjoy the cite, but if it is to complicated and boring, then most likely they will not even think of going or using the cite.

2/16/2010 "LUNAPIC"

Today we worked on photo editing. Our instructor had us go online and find for cites that does picture editing. Well, i chose the cite "lunapic.com" i thought is was hard at first, but when i get to play with it, it was very interesting. It is a great cite in my opinion because it does not ask for personal information. It's free, and you can go to it anytime. It has great animations, effects, frames, and all other tools to customize your image. it can turn your image into something totally different from the original image. For example, if i load up a picture that shows only the face. i can actually make the eyes blink. another is, if you load up pictures that has a date on the bottom, or any words posted on the picture, you can actually delete it and the original picture will seem like there were no words on it.
This cite has it negative and positive. The psitive i have just talked about, now the negative part about this cite is that if you have a slow computer, it will take you forever to edit your picture, the reason why is that everytime you make a change to a picture, it loads up automatically sort of like refreshing the window over and over again. That is the only negative part that i know when exploring the cite.
overall, on a scale of 1-10, i would definately give it a 10, because i had a fast internet loading, i had no problem with it. :) THIS CITE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if dealing with editing pictures!

2/9/2010 FLICKR

Today we worked on the cite http://www.flickr.com/. We uploaded pictures that we want to post, then we created a flickr badge. It took some time for the pictures to load, although it was worth the wait. This cite is awesome if you like to deal with pictures. Before, when i was taking art class, we had to create a flickr account to post up are drawings that we did in class. So this is a good idea for art class, like if you drew a picture in class or had any assignments that deals with drawing, we can post it on the flickr cite and so the ART works would be shared to anyone, and everyone. This is a great way to share art works and other visual pictures, and it gives a chance for the people to comment on the art work.

ZOHO DOCS

1) explain the assignment. Our group chose to do Docs. We had to figure out how to work it, then we would present it in class.
2) How easy/ dificult was the project you worked on? It was dificult at first, but once you start playing with the buttons on the screen, i started to figure it out quick.
3) How do you think your student would benefit from your project? I think it will benefit them well, once they are familiar with the cite and know what to do, this cite will help them get organized with their files and folders.
4) Rate the software zoho on the scale of 1-10. i would rate this a 10 because in my opinion, it can help me get organize. and it can help the students get organize as well. this will make my life easier, because i do not have to look through alot of folders in order to find my documents.. It is as easy as it can be... JUST a click and you find your files!

2/2/10 ZOHO

Today we did an online project. The cite is www.zoho.com. we had to get familiarize with WRITER, SHEET, SHOW, and DOCS. We worked in groups. I am new at this cite, and it was complicated at first, but as we played around with it, it starts to work just like any other cite.. it's not rocket science. This cite works just the same as hotmail or any other email, except the only difference that i know is that we can edit a document. I love this cite, i think i will use it for other things, or class.. because it very organized.

Jan 26th what we did today

Today i signed up for engrade so that i can get an update of my grade for class. We also signed in for NMC online so that i will be able to see what is going on next class. Then we did a sign up on www.bubbl.u This site was confusing, we had to collaborate with our partner, but we never figured out how to collaborate with eachother on the computer. We then had to work on our own on the bubbl.us and create a ideal flow chart of our own school chart.

1) What is the learning outcome or expected goal of your mind-map. The learning or goal of the mind mapping is probably for me to knnow who is incharge and who we should go to hen we have problems with anything that has to deal with the school.
In what way will this mind-map improve your students learning of the concept or characterization? This will help me by knowing who are the leaders in the school.

2) What did you think was the most important lesson you learned from this activity? I think that knowing the chain of commands of our school is very important, when we did the flow chart, i had to figure out who were the people that were bosses of school, the only thing that i thought of was the principle, but after doing the chart, i found out that it was the administrators of the school.

3) What did you like or dislike about the software bubbl.us? The only thing i did not like was that it was sort of complicated to work with our partner. the part i like was when we worked independantly. it was much easier.

4) What would you do differently next time you do mind-mapping and/or use this tool? I am not quite sure right now, i just started. i need to play around with it alittle more in order to see what that cite can do besides doing charts.

5) Think of another assignment where this mind-mapping tool could be used? This could be used during reading time, after the students are done reading a book, they can ue this cite to create a time line of what they have read.
